iPhone Push Notification Service
June 9th, 2008 Posted in iPhoneIt was announced at the WWDC keynote that Apple will address to problem of the iPhone SDK not supporting background processes by providing a Push Notification Service. Apple argues that background processes would have cause battery and performance issues. Their solution is very scalable and only requires a single persistant connection to to the Apple services.
Developers will send a notification message to an Apple services and they will push the notification out to the device. Three types of notifications are supported including badges, sounds and text.
This feature will be available in September.

I am pouring over the SDK documentation and can find no mention of it! The application I am working on will depend on it.
I’ll have to scan through the keynote again and adjust my schedule accordingly.
