My Development iPod is now a pink paperweight

The iPod I use for development now only shows the pink screen telling me to connect to iTunes. The Xcode Organizer has this to say about my iPod: “This device is expired. Please install a newer version of the OS.”
Apparently this is happening to everyone.
The problem is that Apple hasn’t released a new version of the OS yet. Until they release a new version I have no way to test apps on the iPod. Back to full time Simulator for me for a while I guess.
Hopefully they’ll get a new OS out soon!
